My 4DX strategy plan

First, I will address the three requirements of my assignment. After this, I am sharing some thoughts about what is going on with me and this assignment. I have been struggling a lot.

I believe that in my Flow Chart the plan can be appreciated. That is what I am hoping. My flow chart is my guideline, how I will start and in which direction my plan is going to be.

About how to address the key actions, I have a clear WIG, I have two lag measures and three lead measures. Inside my lead measures, my accountability and scoreboard are embedded.

From my point of view, I feel that if I focus on this flow chart, I can work with a goal in mind. The goal is measurable, there is accountability and it is attainable with a time bound. As well, inside the chart we can see the need for financial resources to acquire robots and  professional learning for the involved teachers. All of these actions and plans are interacting with each other and working in the same path.

Next, I want to share some thoughts and feelings I have had.

I want to be honest. I am still struggling as for how to do this. It is a tough task to clearly identify the lag and lead measures. How to create a compelling scoreboard or keeping track of performance.

I guess this is what happens when you are focusing on implementing a plan where behaviors are people besides yourself is involved. Saying this, I want to share that this section is still a work in progress. I will keep working and brushing this section until I feel that I am in the adequate track.

By looking into the flow chart, we can see how my plan is going to look like. As stated before, it is a work in progress. I feel I need to work harder on my lag and lead measures, but I am getting there.

In one of my discussions, I expressed that one the WIG Is clear, then the rest of the processes will show by themselves. Well, it seems that right now is not my case. So far, the process of implementing my plan into my community has been more challenging that what I envisioned. It has been a process in which to consider too many variables and try to reduce them into a few and focus on one major objective. It sounds simple but getting there is quite difficult.

When approaching my project and observing what I was going to do, I felt it came easily for me. I was thinking of personal challenges where I applied the 4DX naturally. I managed to have a clear goal (WIG) and start working on all the things around it to achieve my goal. I focused to work on the things I could control and prepare for the ones I couldn’t control.

Let’s see a short examples from my personal life:

Getting to live and work in the US.

Things I needed but couldn’t control,Things I needed and could control
How tough the tests could be.  Get my teacher certification. (Studying and working hard.)
Immigration authorization process.Worked all my life to have a clean immigration file and no law breaking
Getting hired by Alief ISDPrepared myself, get my resume, try my best

Looking at this table could be easily seen that the lag and lead measures were there. Also, the scoreboard was there: getting my certification, INS authorization and getting hired by the district I wanted.

After looking at this example, I tried to implement the same strategy to my innovation plan, but I still struggle to get everything the way I feel comfortable with it. I do not know how to develop a compelling scoreboard. It is difficult to measure if teachers and students are benefitting from the robotics. I find it difficult to collect data for comparison and determine if robotics are doing what I am looking for. I know it does, I believe on it, but how to keep scores of that. Maybe I am using the wrong approach. Maybe a correct one will be winning a robotic tournament. I honestly still don’t know, but I know I will find a solution to all my doubts.
