Audience:

My 6th grade Bilingual STEM students from Youngblood Intermediate.

Outline:

BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) – Overarching Course Goal

TLW be able to develop their critical thinking and increase their reading and comprehension skills by understanding a fiction text and the author’s purpose, while embedding CS skills and creating a robotics coding program and a story of their own. All of this by collaborating and helping each other.

Human Dimension/Caring
Learning GoalsLearning ActivitiesAssessment Activities
TLW understand that nothing is impossible, just difficultTLW understand that people and communities can help to grow and solve problemsTLW understand that R&C and CS can help to understand any situation in life and that it just needs to break the situation in tiny pieces.TLW understand that helping is as important as asking for help.  TWL write a reflection in their Digital Notebook about how they have felt in the course when people help them and give feedback to their works and thoughts.TLW read an article about belonging to an online community.TLW share their thoughts from their Digital Notebook in an online discussion.TLW give feedback to at least 2 other classmates in the online discussion.
How to Keep on Learning
Learning GoalsLearning ActivitiesAssessment Activities
TLW integrate critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills into their daily life. TLW be able to analyze and understand any text they have access toTLW integrate computational thinking into their daily life and experience first-hand its benefits.   TLW reflect on robotics and their own life.TLW reflect on a real-life problem and how CS can help them.TLW write a short essay about how robotics can benefit the students’ academic and real life.TLW start the idea of a project of how CS can be used in their community.
