Students showcase

Students implementing Stage Direction in Coding. This is an example of how it can work together.
It was amazing!
More Stage directions!
Listen-Following directions activity.
In this activity, students became aware if they were able to give clear directions and follow directions.
It was really fun and students were so engaged and had a great time!

I am a 6th grader Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. Each day I teach to a total of 42 student divided in two blocks. One in the morning, which is a monolingual class, My 2nd block is on the afternoon and they are my bilingual (Spanish) students.

I’m looking forward to implement everything I learn during the Apple Code Academy. I am a true believer that challenging the mind is the best way to learn. When the mind is challenged, what it learns sticks automatically in it. When students are challenged, they start acquiring knowledge because they need it, not because the teachers is telling them to learn it.

What I learnt in the Apple Academy is precisely that, so I am excited to start implementing all this know-how with my students.

Implementation ideas

Apple skills for presentations, videos, PBL Projects and blueprints

Apple Skills

Swift and Playgrounds for learning coding and develop more structured and organized mindset

Coding Skills

Dynamic and blended learning, implementing reading, writing and social studies into a major project where all skills interact

Me, the Teacher

How coding skills can be implemented.

This year is an interesting year. We are part of this amazing pilot program. My wish about the project is to guide my students to create a dummy app where coding is required to solve a real life problem. My big and very ambitious project, is to mix 6th graders with High School students so my students create the app and the design, and the older students make it happen for real life. That will be my dream come true for this project.

As for how this is relevant to my instruction. Well, it is because coding teaches us how to be structured; how to be clear in our instructions; to understand the sequence and steps of something. When our brain is used to this, we are more successful. This is what coding can help us. As well, implementing coding with Apple skills, it gives a holistic learning with problem solving and integration of new skills to other skills.
